IUI is a simple, non-invasive treatment for most sub fertile couple. Itis cost effective treatment therefore be offered as a firs linetreatment option. It is also known as Artificial insemination. Inthis chances of conception can be increased by two fold over thecouples base line chance by depositing sperm directly into the wombat the time of ovulation.

Who Need IUI?

How is IUI Done?

First tubal status of female should be confirmed. The couple need to reporton day-2/3 of menses. The growth of the follicles on the ovary is monitored with ultrasound. When the follicle gets mature trigger injection is given to induce rupture of the follicle. IUI is timed totake place 36 hrs after the trigger injection. On the day of planned IUI husband provides a semen sample. The concentrated preparation of motile sperm is extracted from the semen sample in the lab. The sperm preparation is placed in the uterine cavity with a small catheter. IUI is painless procedure, which takes only a few minutes. After procedure patient can do all their normal activity.

IUI Success Rate of IUI 

Success rates of IUI depends on age of female partner, ovarian reserve, duration of sub fertility, sperm quality and tubal patency. The success rate is generally around 10-15% per cycle.
